Continental Restructures Tyre Lineup for General Haulage Trucks

In a move to simplify yet enhance its offerings, Continental is swapping its tyre lineup for general haulage trucks.

This change aims to provide customers with a more straightforward range of options. Unveiled at Continental’s Hanover headquarters in April, the new Generation 5 Eco tyre is set to replace the current Conti EcoPlus tyre, which is designed for long-distance haulage, and the Conti EcoRegional tyre, suited for mixed distribution fleets.

This new addition means operators now have three tyre options to choose from, each designed to support a wide range of fleet applications.

Developed with the latest in tyre technology, the Generation 5 Eco tyre addresses the classic conflict between low rolling resistance and high mileage. Available for both steer and drive axles, the Eco tyre builds on the strengths of its predecessors, offering durability and fuel efficiency to help operators get the most out of their mileage.

For trucks operating in diverse environments, the Generation 5 Hybrid tyre, which was unveiled in 2022, stands out as Continental’s most versatile option. This tyre combines high mileage, durability, and solid traction, making it ideal for regional and inner-city use, while still performing on motorways and off-road conditions. For those looking to achieve low levels of rolling resistance, Continental’s EfficientPro tyre remains a top choice, particularly for truck manufacturers keen on maximising fuel efficiency.

Grant Willman, Sales Director for Continental Truck Tyres in the UK and Ireland, highlights the innovation behind the new lineup: “Our simplified on-road tyre range offers an exceptional mix of durability and performance to better meet the diverse needs of our operators. When combined with our ContiRe and Bandvulc retread ranges, and tyres from our other brands, such as Uniroyal, Continental undoubtedly has one of the most capable product portfolios on the market today.”

Operators can already specify ContiRe Generation 5 Hybrid retread tyres, with the ContiRe Eco tyre set to launch in 2025. Additionally, the Bandvulc range of retread tyres, designed, engineered, and manufactured at the ContiLifeCycle facility in Ivybridge, Devon, offers a sustainable option.
