The new Volkswagen Taos will have high-performance Kumho Crugen HP71 SUV tyres as standard from the factory.
Kumho has recently secured a partnership with Volkswagen to supply the new Taos SUV with durable Crugen HP71 as its original equipment tyre.
The Crugen HP71 is a premium tyre specially designed for SUVs looking for a quiet, luxurious ride combined with all-season capability, including light snow traction. The tyre utilises Kumho’s next-generation rubber compounds, which they claim can increase wear resistance and improve on-snow performance by more than 20%.
As this is an all-weather tyre, it features a lot of innovative technology that helps it maintain handling and braking performance in all weather conditions. The all-season tread compound of the Crugen HP71 is moulded into a five-rib, symmetric design featuring Kumho’s Variable Pitch Technology that provides a quiet and comfortable ride while also allowing for easy rotation patterns to promote even wear and longevity.
Plus, notches in the ribs and wide grooves in the shoulders combine with four circumferential grooves to evacuate water from the contact patch for hydroplaning resistance, and sipes and independent tread blocks create biting edges for traction in slippery conditions.
Kumho is also the original equipment tyre supplier for the upcoming Volkswagen ID.4 BEV SUV, which gets an EV-specific variant of the Crugen HP71. This EV variant is designed to handle the additional weight and instant torque of EVs.
