Linglong Tire Launches New Grip Master Winter

Aimed squarely at the high and ultra high-performance segments, the new Linglong Grip Master Winter tyre is designed to handle a broad spectrum of vehicles.

It’s already available in a remarkable 70 sizes, and from the sounds of it, Linglong isn’t stopping there.

This Grip Master Winter steps into the shoes of the popular Green-Max Winter UHP and HP models but does so with a level-up in almost every way. Linglong claims the Grip Master Winter offers not only improved wet and dry performance but also brings a slight upgrade in snow handling and a bump in mileage. If that’s not enough, the tyre also promises to be a more economical choice, thanks to its enhanced efficiency.

Wolf Fuder, the Marketing Manager at Linglong Germany GmbH, summed it up nicely: “The Grip Master Winter was all about improving wet performance and refining dry handling while keeping in line with environmental standards,” he explained. “Balancing these aspects in a winter tyre that performs well across wet, dry, and snowy conditions was no easy task, especially as we pushed to increase mileage and lower rolling resistance. But we did it. The Grip Master Winter is, without doubt, the most powerful winter tyre Linglong has ever made.”

The Grip Master Winter stands out with its directional V-shaped tread pattern, which works together with interlocking tread blocks to give you stability when you need it most. The wide, multi-tiered grooves efficiently channel away water and slush, reducing the risk of aquaplaning.

Linglong has also developed a new polymer-silica composite compound for this tyre that remains elastic even in low temperatures. This gives the tyre reliable contact with the road and ensures short braking distances, even when winter throws its worst at you. With 3D sipes and improved tread stiffness, the tyre’s handling and stability are claimed to be impressive. On dry roads, the tyre’s advanced tread compound and carcass construction improve handling and brake performance, while three-dimensional sipes boost cornering stability and steering precision.

Using full silica compounds is often a tricky balance because it tends to reduce tyre mileage. But Linglong has solved this with a clever mix of natural resins that cuts down on abrasion and increases braking efficiency. And with reduced rolling resistance, the tyre not only lasts longer but also helps you save on fuel.

The Grip Master Winter is the result of a global effort, primarily developed at Linglong’s European development centre in Hanover. It underwent testing across some of the toughest conditions Europe and China could throw at it. From the European test track in Idiada, Spain, to the Sino Asia test site in China, this tyre was put through the wringer. For winter-specific performance, it was even tested in the frosty landscapes of Ivalo, Finland.

Right out of the gate, the Grip Master Winter is available in 70 sizes, from 14 to 20 inches, with cross-sections of 35 to 75 and tread widths from 165 to 315 mm. It covers speed ratings from T to W, meaning there’s a size and fit for pretty much every vehicle on the road. And next year, Linglong plans to add 30 more sizes, further broadening the tyre’s appeal.

This new release rounds out the growing Linglong Master family, which already includes the Sport Master, Sport Master e, Comfort Master, and Grip Master 4S all-season tyres.
